Futebol e política se misturam?

Em meio às tensões Irã – Israel / EUA, a Copa do Mundo de Clubes viu o iraniano Alireza Faghani apitando a final (contrariando a expectativa de Ramon Abatti Abel estar no jogo, pois foi muito bem no torneio, além dos elogoios da própria Comissão de Arbitragem).

Na foto, abaixo, o presidente americano Donald Trump ao lado do árbitro iraniano. Fiquei pensando: existiu alguma influência política na escolha do juizão, para um eventual momento como esse, ou não?

Sinceramente, quero crer na meritocracia.

In the photo below, American President Donald Trump is alongside the Iranian referee. It made me wonder: was there any political influence in the choice of the referee, for a moment like this, or not? Honestly, I want to believe in meritocracy.
