O atacante Memphis Depay é um jogador muito bom, mas isso não quer dizer que está tudo bem atualmente.

Titular da Seleção da Holanda e do Corinthians, está sendo questionando por não marcar gols em clássicos (em 10 oportunidades envolvendo os rivais paulistas, não fez nenhum gol). Foi vaiado pela torcida e sacado ainda no primeiro tempo, contra o São Paulo FC. Porém, por outro lado, teve que cobrar salários atrasados, premiação e outros valores combinados e não pagos.

Ele não tem culpa de ter um alto salário e regalias; culpa tem quem o contratou por valores difíceis de serem pagos não só pelo Timão, mas pelo mercado em geral.

A questão é: parece que a relação entre atleta e clube azedou. Não vai ser mandando embora, pois não se tem dinheiro para pagá-lo. E também não vai “pegar o boné” e ir embora, pois o contrato está vigente.

A pergunta é: o que fazer com Depay? Como recuperá-lo tecnicamente? E como melhorar a relação?

Forward Memphis Depay is a very good player, but that doesn’t mean everything is fine right now.

A starter for the Dutch National Team and Corinthians, he’s being questioned for not scoring in derbies (in 10 opportunities against Paulista rivals, he hasn’t scored any goals). He was booed by fans and subbed off in the first half against São Paulo FC. However, on the other hand, he had to demand overdue salaries, bonuses, and other agreed-upon but unpaid amounts.

He’s not to blame for having a high salary and perks; the blame lies with whoever signed him for amounts difficult to pay not only by “Timão” (Corinthians’ nickname) but by the market in general.

The issue is: it seems the relationship between the athlete and the club has soured. He won’t be sent away because there’s no money to pay him. And he won’t just “pack his bags” and leave because the contract is still valid.

The question is: what should be done with Depay? How can he be technically recovered? And how can the relationship be improved?
