No ventre de uma mãe havia dois bebês. Um perguntou ao outro: “Você acredita em vida após o parto?”

O outro respondeu: “É claro. Tem que haver algo após o parto. Talvez nós estejamos aqui para nos preparar para o que virá mais tarde.”

“Bobagem”, disse o primeiro. “Não há vida após o parto. Que tipo de vida seria esta?”

O segundo disse: “Eu não sei, mas haverá mais luz do que aqui. Talvez nós poderemos andar com as nossas próprias pernas e comer com nossas bocas. Talvez teremos outros sentidos que não podemos entender agora.”

O primeiro retrucou: “Isto é um absurdo. Andar é impossível. E comer com a boca!? Ridículo! O cordão umbilical nos fornece nutrição e tudo o mais de que precisamos.O cordão umbilical é muito curto. A vida após o parto está fora de cogitação.”

O segundo insistiu: “Bem, eu acho que há alguma coisa e talvez seja diferente do que é aqui. Talvez a gente não vá mais precisar deste tubo físico.”

O primeiro contestou: “Bobagem, e além disso, se há realmente vida após o parto, então, por que ninguém jamais voltou de lá? O parto é o fim da vida e no pós-parto não há nada além de escuridão, silêncio e esquecimento. Ele não nos levará a lugar nenhum.”

“Bem, eu não sei”, disse o segundo, “mas certamente vamos encontrar a Mamãe e ela vai cuidar de nós.”

O primeiro respondeu: “Mamãe, vc realmente acredita em Mamãe? Isto é ridículo. Se a Mamãe existe, então, onde ela está agora?”

O segundo disse: “Ela está ao nosso redor. Estamos cercados por ela. Nós somos dela. É nela que vivemos. Sem ela este mundo não seria e não poderia existir.”

Disse o primeiro: “Bem, eu não posso vê-la, então, é lógico que ela não existe.”

Ao que o segundo respondeu: “Às vezes, quando vc está em silêncio, se vc se concentrar e realmente ouvir, vc poderá perceber a presença dela e ouvir sua voz amorosa lá de cima.”

GOD AND THE MOTHER OF TWINS

In the womb of a mother there were two babies. One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after birth?”

The other answered: “Of course. There has to be something after birth. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what will come later.”

“Nonsense,” said the first. “There is no life after birth. What kind of life would that be?”

The second said: “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will be able to walk on our own legs and eat with our own mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we cannot understand now.”

The first one replied: “That’s absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with your mouth!? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord provides us with nutrition and everything else we need. The umbilical cord is too short. Life after birth is out of the question.” The second one insisted: “Well, I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical tube anymore.” The first one replied: “Nonsense, and besides, if there really is life after birth, then why has no one ever come back from there? Birth is the end of life and after birth there is nothing but darkness, silence and oblivion. It won’t take us anywhere.” “Well, I don’t know,” said the second one, “but we’ll certainly find Mommy and she’ll take care of us.” The first one replied: “Mommy, do you really believe in Mommy? That’s ridiculous. If Mommy exists, then where is she now?” The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are hers. She is what we live in. Without her this world would not exist and could not exist.” The first said, “Well, I cannot see her, so of course she does not exist.” To which the second replied, “Sometimes when you are silent, if you concentrate and really listen, you can perceive her presence and hear her loving voice from above.” This was the way a Hungarian writer explained the existence of God.
