Ó DEUS eterno e todo-poderoso, em vós vivemos, nos movemos e somos. Nós vos louvamos e bendizemos por terdes dado a estes vossos filhos e filhas, nossos queridos vovôs e nossas queridas vovós, uma vida longa com perseverança na fé e em boas obras.
Concedei que eles, confortados pelo carinho dos filhos, netos e amigos, se alegrem na saúde e não se deixem abater na doença, a fim de que, revigorados com a vossa bênção, consagrem o tempo da idade madura ao vosso louvor, seguindo os exemplos de São Joaquim e de Santa Ana, que na fidelidade à Palavra de Deus, cumpriu sempre a vontade de servir e de amar a todos. Por Cristo, nosso Senhor.

This date is celebrated today because it commemorates the day of Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, grandparents of Jesus Christ (parents of the Virgin Mary).

PRAYER FOR GRANDPARENTS
O eternal and almighty God, in You we live, move, and have our being. We praise and bless You for granting these Your sons and daughters, our dear grandpas and grandmas, a long life with perseverance in faith and good works.
Grant that they, comforted by the affection of their children, grandchildren, and friends, may rejoice in health and not be disheartened in sickness, so that, invigorated by Your blessing, they may consecrate the time of their mature age to Your praise, following the examples of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, who, in fidelity to God’s Word, always fulfilled the will to serve and love all. Through Christ our Lord.
