HISTÓRIA DE SANTA EDWIGES
Edwiges nasceu na Alemanha medieval. Casou-se com o príncipe da Silésia, que hoje pertence à Polônia, e teve seis filhos. Depois da morte do marido e dos filhos, entrou para o mosteiro. Dedicou-se a ajudar os carentes e, com seu próprio dinheiro, construiu hospitais, escolas, igrejas e conventos. Ganhou fama de santa dos endividados ajudando detentos da região. Ela descobriu que muitos estavam presos porque não tinham como pagar suas dívidas. Foi reconhecida pela Igreja Católica em 1267.

The History of Saint Hedwig
Hedwig was born in medieval Germany. She married the prince of Silesia, which today belongs to Poland, and had six children.
After the death of her husband and children, she entered the convent. She dedicated herself to helping the needy and, with her own money, built hospitals, schools, churches, and convents.
She gained a reputation as the saint of the indebted by helping prisoners in the region. She discovered that many were incarcerated because they could not pay their debts.
She was recognized (canonized) by the Catholic Church in 1267.
