Hoje é dia de um grande Santo do Catolicismo – São Gregório Magno!
Conhecido pela sua forte espiritualidade e pelo discurso em prol ao trabalho e à oração, a fim de lutar por uma sociedade melhor, foi Papa no século VI. Como pontífice, pregou a caridade e o desapego do materialismo mundano. Contemplativo ao extremo, deixou como marca da aproximação a Deus o canto – daí a busca da calmaria e introspecção através do que chamamos hoje de canto gregoriano.

Today is the day of a great Catholic Saint – Saint Gregory the Great!
Known for his strong spirituality and for his discourse in favor of work and prayer, in order to strive for a better society, he was Pope in the sixth century. As a pontiff, he preached charity and detachment from worldly materialism. Extremely contemplative, he left his mark on drawing closer to God through chant – hence the search for calmness and introspection through what we now call Gregorian chant.
Saint Gregory the Great, pray for us! Amen.
